Silver Medal Decanter 2019 for the 2015 vintage. From the highly rated Cantina di Venosa, named by Decanter in a recent feature as one of the 'Stars of Southern Italy'.

We've moved on from the award winning 2015 vintage and on to the 2018. It's an approachable and affordable version of an Italian classic from mature 30 year old vineyards. A warm and richly-flavoured, oak-aged, Aglianico with aromas of ripe black fruit, cassis and smoky notes. The generous palate is packed full of red and black berry fruits, with layers of spicy oak, mocha and liquorice. Concentrated, with a good depth of flavour, and chunky yet supple tannins. Distinctly Southern Italian and excellent with game casseroles and beef.

” …mixes spicy red berries with clove and candied orange to create a seductive bouquet. Its silky textures are lifted by brisk acids, as tart cherry and blueberry skins saturate the palate.
