Basically this is the 'third' wine of the legendary and very expensive Ch La Gaffeliere, St Emilion - made by the same team but just with grapes that don't quite cut the muster for the top blends. This offers a great affordable insight to the heights the top cru can achieve. Excellent value for money.
Gold Medal Vinalies Nationales 2025 - "Featuring a beautiful ruby-purple color with violet highlights and a brilliant shine, this wine immediately captivates with its depth and liveliness. The nose reveals lovely complexity, blending elegant oak and roasted coffee notes with subtle aromas of small red berries and fern. On the palate, the attack is smooth and balanced, supported by a refined texture expressing hints of coffee, red and black fruits, sweet spices, and a finely integrated oak. The overall balance is harmonious, boasting great elegance and a subtle yet persistent structure. The finish, full of finesse, lingers with clean, enticing fruitiness. A refined wine that is both complex and approachable."
