Highly Commended in The Wine Merchants Magazine Top 100 - this glorious Burgundy is really drinking well now. Being 'careful' on spending, St Veran has always been one of my 'go to' appellations in the Chalonnais as it offers fantastic value with wines in a similar style to Pouilly Fuisse - there's a 'flinty edge' from the grantatic sub-soil. Classic chardonnay from the area offering some lovely fresh citrus notes of lemon peel, floral notes with interesting exotic undertones. Finesse and purity meet and fuse.... With frost damage and grape shortages from the 2021 vintage pushing prices even higher than oil prices, this is a reassuring great value wine of enormous charm and deliverance.
